You may be a regular gambler or a beginner, but when it comes to gambling, there are certain terms that every gambler must be familiar with. Here are some such terms that are used frequently at the gambling table where slots' gambling is practiced.

  • Bonus Feature- This is a new feature that allows you to make use of a bonus round in which you will win some extra money. This feature is quite new in the business.
  • Coins Size- The amount that may be betted at one turn of a game is known as the coin size, and the most common size of such amounts lie between one cent and five dollars.
  • Hit Frequency- The frequency at which the winnings are made is known as the hit frequency of a particular game.
  • Hopper- Land based slot machines, and not online ones, are associated with this term. A hopper is a place to store the playing coins. Sometimes when the coins overflow, the casinos take that money and used it as profit. The buckets underneath the hoppers, to collect the overflowing coins, are taken away and emptied by the respective casinos in the early hours.
  • Free Spins- When any combination of three scatter symbols, or more, appear on the screen, the player is allowed some free spins.
  • Fill- A fill is when the casino has to get a bag of coins to fill up an empty hopper.
  • Hold and re-spin- This is a feature not available everywhere. By this feature, the player can hold one reel and spin another, so as to increase the chances of winning. More than one reels can be held at a time.
  • Hold- The percentage of money that the casino keeps for the house profit is known as the hold, and it is usually from about three to fifteen percent, and sometimes even more.
  • Loose and Tight slots- Loose slots and tight slots are different in their payoffs. The loose slots generally have a very good percentage of payoffs, while the tight slots are no match for the almost certified hundred percent payoff average of a loose slot.
  • Multiline- The versions of slot games that have more than one winning combination and two pay lines are known as multi lines.
  • Pay line- A pay line is the line that is found in the centre of the window of the slot machine. However, there can be about three to five pay lines as well. Symbols that form the winning combination and feature on the pay lines are responsible for dropping the winning amount in the tray attached to the slot machine, which is used to collect the winnings.
  • Progressive Jackpot- Those jackpot games where the jackpot amount increases as people play are known as progressive jackpots. Reading the machine before using is necessary.
